Before the double red match, midfielder Bono Fernandes was involved in a horrific car accident in which his car collided head-on with another vehicle on the way to practice, severely damaging the right side of the Portuguese international's car. Luckily, Bono Fernandes was unharmed and practiced as usual in preparation for the match.

The accident took place on Tuesday (19), when Bono Fernandes went to the Carrington training base, where the two cars involved were seen parked in the center of a narrow road, with Bono Fernandes outside the car checking out the damage to his £94,000 Porsche and looking on helplessly. Fernandes then went to practice as usual, leaving the car to be driven away by Sampdar.
