Ovomas, who resigned from his post as Ajax's director of soccer after admitting that he had sent pornographic messages to his female colleagues, has made a new move. Belgian First Division side Antwerp announced that they have appointed him as their technical director, and the Arsenal star promises that what happened in the past will not happen again.
Ovomas, 48, who was accused earlier this year of sending private messages of lust to female colleagues at Ajax, reportedly with explicit photos, later admitted that what he had done was unacceptable and decided to take the blame and resign. Ajax chief executive Wan Dasha has denounced the incident as horrific, and the board of directors has decided to accept his resignation after deliberation.
However, it seems that the shameful behavior of Ovomas has not affected his work. A few days ago, Bundesliga side Antwerp announced the appointment of the former Dutch international as the team's new technical director. According to the Dutch Telegraph, Sven Jaecques, the general manager of Antwerp, believes that the affair of the sexual messages was a private matter and that it has come to an end: it is very important to give someone a new chance. The reason for the appointment of Ovomas was the recognition of his managerial skills and past reputation, but it was reported that the club did not specifically inform his female colleagues.
