At the other end, Binford's passing quality returned to a steady state and gradually took control of the game, but were slow to find a breakthrough up front.
In the final period of the game, Brentford needed to break through the deadlock and lacked a passer who could accurately find his teammates in the box. Eriksen came up with a first time cross and found Toney at the far post to head in the goal to take the lead, and in stoppage time, Toney broke through the defense and was fouled by Collins who was given a red card and a penalty kick, which Toney took himself and scored the winning goal. Binford scored twice in the closing stages of the game to secure the win.
