After the announcement of Chelsea's sale, a number of wealthy businessmen and consortiums immediately took action. Following the high-profile acquisition by a European and American consortium formed by Weiss and Todd Boehly, Turkish tycoon Bilak suddenly disclosed on Saturday (5) that he was in contact with Chelsea's owner, Abramović, and threatened to say that the Turkish flag would soon be flown in London!
Bilak, who is reportedly worth £8 billion, was not on the list of those rumored to want to buy Chelsea, but in an interview with Turkish media outlet Yeni Safak, he revealed: "We are discussing the terms of the deal with Abramovich's lawyers, we are in the negotiation phase, we have already put in an offer, and the Turkish flag will soon be flying in London. Abramovic thinks Turkey is a safe place and we plan to sign a deal soon.
Bilak has a wide range of businesses, including crypto-assets, construction, tourism and energy, and has investments all over the world, including London. According to the Daily Mail, Abramovich's private jet flew from Moscow to Ankara, Turkey, on Wednesday (2), adding to the credibility of Birak's comments.
