
Portuguese coach Fonseca, who was trapped in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, revealed on his personal social media platform on Sunday (27) that he and his family had arrived safely in Romania after traveling overnight in a minivan and were about to depart for Portugal.
Reportedly assisted by the Portuguese Embassy, Fonzinha fled with some Portuguese nationals living in Kiev in a 15-seat minivan, traveling more than 30 hours through Moldova to Romania.
Fonsinga said on social media: "Hello everyone! My family and I have left Ukraine by bus after more than 30 hours of traveling and have arrived in Romania, we are planning to return to Portugal tomorrow and then we will tell you about our escape and thank all those who have helped us over the last few days. We are safe now, but the nightmare is not over for the Ukrainians, they need to keep on fighting, so I appeal to everyone to do what they can to help and support the Ukrainians, who are suffering from cruelty and inequality.
Fonsinga, 58, had planned to leave Kiev with his Ukrainian wife and son last Thursday, but the Russians were unable to do so because of the

blew up the airport on the same day, causing flights to be canceled and eventually forcing them to be stranded in the area.
