FC Barcelona in the country of Spain. Founded by Swiss Juan Gamble in the city of Barcelona, Spain, the club was founded on November 29, 1899. The founder, Juan Gamble, played soccer for Basel in Switzerland until he was 20 years old. Unfortunately, soccer could not support his family at that time, so Gamble decided to give up soccer and began to engage in trade activities.
In 1899, on his way to South Africa to sell sugar, Gamble stopped to visit his uncle in Barcelona. He immediately fell in love with the Spanish port city and settled there. Gamble learned Catalan and changed his name from Hans Gamble to Juan Gamble, and went on to learn Spanish.
Spain has a stronger soccer atmosphere and since its introduction by the British in 1872, it has become a favorite sport for people in many Spanish regions. Under this influence, Gamble, who had never forgotten soccer, wanted to establish a club in Barcelona. So on October 22, 1899, the Swiss placed an advertisement in a magazine stating that he wanted to establish a soccer club and that interested parties could come forward. A little more than a month later, on November 29th, eleven players joined the team, and they came from all countries. It was because of the players that FC Barcelona was founded. They started playing in December of the same year, and the following year they took part in the region's first league. They won four, lost one and drew one of their six matches, finishing as runners-up. FC Barcelona's first title, on the other hand, was the 1901 regional league championship, which Barcelona won all eight games.
