Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is facing complex financial challenges over his transfer, according to the latest report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in his Insight Offside column, and although his talks with Brazilian club Flamengo are still ongoing, the two sides have yet to reach a final agreement.
Romano pointed out that Martial is still in the status of a free agent, as his contract with Manchester United expired this summer. This gives him some flexibility in the transfer market, but also increases the complexity of the negotiations, as the lack of a fixed transfer fee constrains clubs to consider the player's salary, bonuses, and the financial issues that may be involved in signing-on fees in a more nuanced manner.
For Flamengo, despite their expressed interest in Martial, financial considerations have been a key factor in preventing the transfer from materializing. Romano emphasized that although Flamengo recognizes Martial's ability, in practice they need to carefully evaluate whether the transfer is in line with the club's financial situation and long-term plan.
In addition, Romano also revealed that no other clubs are currently rumored to have any substantial transfer news with Martial. This means that Martial's options in the transfer market are relatively limited and he may need to be more patient in his negotiations with Flamengo in order to try and reach an agreement that is satisfactory to both parties.
