In the early morning of Wednesday (2), Chile's 33-year old veteran Alexis Sanzis scored twice to help the team beat Bolivia 3-2 on the road in the South American region of the World Cup qualifying tournament. With the win, Chile is only 3 points behind 4th place Uruguay and 2 points behind 5th place Peru, and still has a chance to qualify for the World Cup.
In the 14th minute, Alexis Sanzis netted a penalty kick to open the scoring for Chile, before Bolivia equalized at 1-1 on a corner kick by Anubas, a solid midfielder.
After the change of sides, Chile had the upper hand, with Isla contributing 2 assists, and 21-year-olds Nuñoz and Alexis Sanzis scoring 1 goal each to take a 3-1 lead. Even though Bolivia trailed 2-3 before the end of the game, it didn't prevent them from taking all the 3 points, and Chile is now ranked 6th with 19 points in hand.
In addition, Uruguay beat Venezuela 4-1, with 2 famous players, Cavani and Suarez scoring 1 goal each, Uruguay has 22 points and moved up to the 4th place. As for Peru, they drew 1-1 with Ecuador at home and ranked 5th with 21 points.
