Before Cameroon's home match against Comoros in the last 16 of the African Cup of Nations in the early hours of Tuesday morning (25), many fans scrambled into the stadium, resulting in a tragic incident, which led to at least seven deaths, according to foreign media reports.

The stadium has a capacity of 60,000, but due to poor management, the entrance is not weatherproof, and the new crown of the epidemic constraints on the number of people entering the stadium should not exceed 80%, the initial suspicion is that the fans are anxious to enter the stadium, some people fell down during the push and crash, and the back of the crowd forced to enter the stadium, which led to a tragic incident of people stepping on people.

Hospitals admitting the injured said they had admitted at least 40 people, some in critical condition and needing to be transferred to other hospitals for further treatment, while local officials said the number of casualties from the accident might be higher.

Despite a serious accident, the tournament was held as scheduled and Cameroon beat Comoros, who had a player expelled in the first seven minutes of the match, 2-1 with a goal each from Togo Igambi and Abubakar to reach the last eight.
