At 22:00 on the evening of September 5, the first round of the third phase of the World Cup Asian Qualifying Tournament started between Uzbekistan and North Korea. In this much-anticipated match, the home team of Uzbekistan defeated North Korea with a score of 1-0 by virtue of Masharipov's brilliant shot in the first half, and successfully reaped the opening red of the 18-team tournament.
