The referee, dermot gallagher, felt that this was the correct call by the referee on the spot.
dermot gallagher said, "I personally think it's a yellow card, it's not a smart move, but I think he was using his arm action to jump, he wasn't using his arm as a weapon to elbow an opponent."
"Mane did hit his opponent with his little arm, the ball was in the air and both players had a chance to fight for the drop. If you look at Mane, he was looking at where the ball was coming from, not watching Azpilicueta and not thinking that you're going to be there and I'm going to elbow you. All in all, I think it's a yellow card."
