The league's players took an immediate stand and the match was forced to be interrupted. The SFA announcement stated that the exact disposition of the match would have to await further discussions.
According to Brazil's current anti-epidemic regulations, travelers who have recently traveled to the United Kingdom must be quarantined in a hotel for 14 days upon arrival in Brazil, which means that not only will these four players not be able to participate in the match with the Brazilian team, but they will not be able to leave the country until at least September 18th. However, subsequent media reports claimed that despite the Brazilian side's request to deny entry to the four players, the Argentine side took a strong stance that the match would be canceled if they were not allowed to enter the country, so the Brazilian side chose to give in.
