According to the Mirror, Manchester United's search for a striker has turned to Southampton winger Ince, with the former Liverpool player likely to move to Old Trafford, the newspaper reported on May 20th.
Despite United's decision to extend Cavani's contract by a year just last week, Solskjaer's side may still have to look for players in that position in the transfer market this summer as players like Rashford and Greenwood seem unable to take on the key role of center forward better.
Solskjaer responded to the speculation, with the United boss talking about, "Of course we want to strengthen the squad. When you build a team you need to think about many, many things. It's not that Cavani staying means that the other strikers don't get a chance to play."
Previously, as Kane's transfer intentions were revealed, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea were considered to be the most likely home for the Great British star. However, with further revelations, United seem to have the intention of actively withdrawing from the battle, as their most preferred candidate in this position is believed to be Southampton's England center forward Ince.
The 28-year-old Englishman has scored a total of 13 goals in all competitions this season and has 25 goals to his name in the 2019-2020 season. Ince's strengths include the 'household name' element, his ability to score goals on a relatively consistent basis and, most importantly, the fact that he only has 12 months left on his contract with Southampton and is bound to be able to leave the club at a relatively reasonable price.
Levy has made an offer of £150 million for Kane and has clearly communicated his unwillingness to let him go to a Premier League rival. The teams bidding for Kane, Manchester City and Chelsea, are no slouches either.
As for Manchester United, the Mirror claim that their number one target in the transfer market this summer remains Dortmund winger Sancho.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc had previously claimed that a gentleman's agreement existed between the Bundesliga giants and the England international, and that Sancho would be allowed to leave if conditions were met. Last summer, that condition was £108million and United apparently failed to meet it and take the man away. But they have reason to believe that Sancho's valuation could be closer to around £80 million after December.
