On the eve of Manchester City's upcoming crucial Champions League first-round home game against Inter Milan, defender Stones opened up to the British media about the downturn he experienced at the club. The 2019-2020 season was a challenging and testing time for Stones. Due to frequent injuries and unstable form, his number of starts in all tournaments plummeted to 17, and he even stayed away from the England national team's roster for a while.

Facing a career low point, Stones admits he was in a deep state of self-doubt. "It was a really low time," he recalls, "I started to wonder how I was going to cope, and the frustration of not being able to play was overwhelming. Even though I tried to stay mentally strong, I couldn't help but question myself."

Instead of choosing to give up, however, Stones chose another, more difficult path - to stay and fight. "I told myself that I could either accept reality and move on, or I could stay and fight to prove my worth." He said firmly. And so began Stones' journey back to life as he revisited his lifestyle, striving for perfection in every detail, from diet to fitness to sleep. He trained harder, constantly improving his skills and fitness just so he could get back on the field and prove himself.

Fortunately, Stones' efforts were not in vain. He gradually regained his form, regained the trust of his coach and teammates, and returned to the England national team. Now, standing in the starting lineup of Manchester City's Champions League, Stones is no longer the confused and self-doubting player he once was, but has become an important part of the team's backline. His story tells us that no matter how big the difficulties and challenges are, as long as you keep on working hard and struggling, you will definitely be able to usher in your own rebirth and splendor.
