Inter Milan defender Dumfries was interviewed by Sky Sport Italia ahead of the first round of the Champions League away to Manchester City, where he expressed his views and determination for the upcoming tough match.
Asked if he recalled the previous Champions League final he lost in Istanbul, Dumfries appeared calm and sensible. "That game was really unforgettable, but it's a new season and a whole new Champions League campaign." He emphasized, "We are currently in the first stage, not the final, and although City are still a great team, we are well prepared. We are hungry for victory and will give everything we have to achieve that."
Dumfries gave a negative answer to the question of whether the game was seen as a revenge game. "That's in the past and we have to learn to let go and move on." He said, "Every season is a new beginning and we've had a great season before and accepted all the results. Now, our focus is totally on this game against Manchester City and all we have to do is give it our all and try to get the best possible result."
Speaking about how he will deal with City's strong attacking potential and the threat of Harland, Dumfries showed the confidence and determination of an Inter defender. "Inter have always been known for their excellent defense, which is the tradition and pride of our team." He proudly said, "We have a strong defensive lineup and everyone is confident in their abilities. We are fully prepared to meet the challenge of Manchester City, both in terms of the overall offense and Harland's individual ability, and we will do our best to limit their play."
