On July 8, the 18th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL), Tianjin Jinmen Tigers drew 2-2 with Changchun Yatai at home. Notably, former Tianjin Jinmen Tigers player Zhou Tong visited the TEDA soccer stadium with New Zealand's Auckland City Football Club.
Zhou Tong said: "When I came back to my hometown, I felt very close to my former coaches, teammates and fans. First of all, as a soccer practitioner and sportsman from Tianjin who has made his way internationally, the relationship between China and New Zealand is very friendly, and we are encouraged to carry out this kind of humanistic exchanges, especially between youths around soccer. I think that's my role and responsibility.""
Zhou Tong will reportedly lead a joint Auckland U13 team on a visit to China from July 5th to 13th. After five days of training in Tianjin, Zhou will take the team to Beijing to visit the Great Wall, then to Shanghai before returning to Auckland on July 13th.
