On the eve of the first round of the Champions League stage away to AC Milan, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson spoke to Sky Sport Italia to share his thoughts on the game, the team, his new teammates and his personal future.
Speaking about returning to the Champions League and the match against Milan, Alisson couldn't hide his excitement: "Returning to the Champions League means a lot to us, and last season's absence has made us cherish this opportunity even more. The match against Milan will undoubtedly be an exciting one, and we are looking forward to showing our strengths at a high level. At the same time, the new format brings more challenges, but we are confident that our team will be able to cope."
On the changes brought by the new manager Sloter, Alisson said: "The arrival of Coach Sloter has brought us new tactical concepts and training methods. We are looking forward to our performance on the pitch, especially hoping to make up for the shortcomings in the last round against Nottingham Forest in the coming games. We aspire to be a team that can do everything well, play great soccer and win games."
Speaking about new teammate Federico Chiesa, Alisson was full of praise: "Chiesa is a very good player and his ability needs no introduction. But what impressed me was his positive attitude and smile when he arrived at Liverpool. He's eager to create something great with the team and he's very grateful to be playing for Liverpool. Such an attitude is very important for the team."
On the study of Milan striker Leo, Alisson said, "We studied Leo in depth like we do with other opponents. Milan is a strong team with great players and attacking power. Léo is a very dangerous player with impressive speed and breaking ability. We know we have to be on our toes and ready to defend at all times during the game."
Finally, when asked what he missed most after six years away from Italy, Alisson humorously replied, "Everything, especially the Italian weather and food." As for whether he will return to Italy to play in the future, Alisson kept an open mind, "Maybe! The future is always full of unknowns and possibilities."
