Arnold was delighted with the victory and emphasized that Liverpool, as a club with a long history, deserved to be in the Champions League. He mentioned, "Fantastic, it was disappointing not to be in the Champions League last year but we are now back where we belong. There's no better way to start the season than with a win at the San Siro, it's a special stadium and the game was incredible."
Slaughter on the wingbacks
Arnold elaborated on the high demands and tactical flexibility that head coach Slaughter places on the wing-back position. He said, "Situations change, such as how the opposition presses us, and tactics change constantly during the course of the game. As a result, there will be a lot of tactical changes during the game, including our positional choices, the timing of our return, our midfield involvement and how we switch roles in certain situations. I will even need to play the 'winger' role when Salah cuts inside."
He further explained, "Coach Slaughter would provide us with detailed information throughout the week, throughout the game, and before the game, depicting various game scenarios to make sure we had answers for everything. He would adjust our stance and tactics based on how our opponents were pressing to make sure we always had a solution."
