March 25, 2012 - In the third round of the Chinese Super League, Qingdao West Coast will usher in a derby with Qingdao Hainiu. According to Football Daily's analysis, the Chinese Super League Qingdao derby actually shows a differentiated regional competition, a game that no one can lose and no one can lose.

In the 2024 season, Qingdao has its own derby in the same city as the Chinese Super League. Only this rivalry is not a homogenized and brutal competition, as the two Chinese Super League clubs in Qingdao have significant geographical differences, with a distance of up to 78 kilometers from Qingdao Hainiu's home ground, Qingdao Youth Football Stadium, to Qingdao West Coast's home ground, Xicheng University Town Stadium; and using Qingdao's Old Town Railway Station as a marker, it is 32 kilometers away from the Youth Football Stadium, and 48 kilometers away from the Xicheng University Town Stadium.

Due to history and distance, Qingdao Manatees have a greater presence in the traditional southern part of the city, the northern part of the city, Lichang and Laoshan. The home youth soccer stadium is located in Chengyang District, making it easier to have Chengyang District fans. In contrast, Qingdao West Coast is more dependent on the West Coast New District, which radiates to the rest of the city. Data shows that West Coast New District has a population of 2.614 million, accounting for 1/4 of Qingdao's total population.

Qingdao West Coast got only one point in two rounds and Qingdao Hainiu lost two consecutive games. Currently, there are Meizhou Hakka and Nantong Zhiyun in the Chinese Super League, and Shenzhen Xinpengcheng also has a team that failed to get a point. If you count Cangzhou Lions, there are roughly six teams fighting for relegation. At this level, no one wants to lose the Qingdao derby, no one can lose, and no one can lose.

However, as far as Qingdao soccer is concerned, the current situation is still reassuring:Qingdao Red Lions have entered China A in addition to two Chinese Super League teams, with their home stadium located in the old downtown Tiantai Stadium. In Qingdao, Qubo Qingdao Chasing Wind Junior Football Club advanced to the top 32 of the Chinese Championship in 2023. They are rooted in the city of Laixi, Qingdao, and are a youth-oriented club. Their strength is among the top in the country and they have a bright future.

According to Football Daily's summary, Qingdao soccer is a city of double super in the 2024 season. Maybe the Qingdao derby in the top professional league is brutal, but it's just a part of Qingdao soccer, where the momentum of soccer is very optimistic.
