What year did the OSC start?
What year was the OCHO founded?
The OHL was founded on April 21, 1974 and held its inaugural tournament in the 1974-75 season.
The Austrian Premier League is a professional soccer league organized by the Austrian Football Association.
In 1911, the Lower Austrian Football Association began organizing the Austrian Football Championships, called the "1. Klasse", which was limited to teams from the Austrian capital Vienna, with the winner being awarded the title of "National Champion of Lower Austria". In the 1924-25 season, the newly formed Vienna Football Association took over the tournament and reorganized it into the continent's first professional soccer league, the Austrian First League, and in 1929, the first All-Austrian Amateur League was established, but no Viennese teams participated.
Until 1936, there were only amateur soccer teams outside Vienna, but the outstanding performances of Austrian soccer players at the 1936 Berlin Olympics spurred a nationwide soccer boom, and professional soccer clubs began to be established outside Vienna. In the 1937-38 season, the "Nationalliga" was founded, and for the first time teams from outside Vienna were allowed to participate.
The merger of Germany and Austria in 1938 brought an early end to the "Austrian National League", which was incorporated into the German soccer league system as the "Eastern Border Region League", and once again included teams from outside Vienna. In 1945, after the Second World War, Austrian soccer became independent again and returned to the Vienna-only format, once again known as the "First Division", before being renamed the "Austrian League" in 1946.
It was not until 1949 that a league for all Austrian teams was first established with the creation of the "National First Division", which was run by the "Austrian National League", an organization set up especially for this purpose.
In 1965, the Austrian Football Association (AFB) took over the operation of the top flight from the "Austrian National League" and once again restored the name of the "National League", and in the same year Linz became the first non-capital team to win the championship.
On April 21, 1974, the Austrian Football Association (AFA), with the exception of the Football Association of Vorarlberg, which opposed it, voted internally, by a majority, in favor of the introduction of the "Superliga", which was to be transformed into a second division, and the "National League" was to be launched in the 1974-75 season, together with the other higher divisions, under the supervision of the AFA. In the 1974-75 season, the "Super League" was officially launched, together with the other high-level leagues, under the supervision of the Austrian Football Association. In 1976 the "National League" was renamed the "B-League".
From the 2018-19 season, the number of teams in the Austrian Football Premier League is set at 12.
The season is based on a double round-robin system of home and away matches, with each team playing the other 11 teams once at home and once away, for a total of 22 rounds of matches. At the end of the season, the team at the bottom of the table is relegated to the second division of Austrian soccer.
