At the end of the 2023 season, Dalian Ren and Shenzhen were relegated to China A. The latter had a relegation spot confirmed early on, and was not even as strong as China A, so it made sense for them to leave the Chinese Super League. Compared to Shenzhen, Dalian Ren's departure is even more regrettable, as Xie Hui still had a chance of relegation until the last round. Even in the last 15 minutes against Seaport, if Dalian Ren scored a penalty kick, they still could have squeezed out Nantong Zhiyun to stay, but it wasn't to be, and they lost on penalties and were unfortunately relegated. For Dalian Ren FC, this relegation means a fatal blow and the team may be disbanded.

It wasn't until the FA announced the first approved list that Dalian's name appeared, which once again validated the rumors of disbandment. Of course there will be a second list, so many fans were waiting for the rise of the Dalian people. However, this beautiful expectation can no longer be realized. on January 17th, Dalian people official said that although the club went all out, but could not continue to operate, the debt problem can not be solved, the league failed to pass, can not continue to participate in professional competitions, can only regret the end. Of course, the Dalian Ren club also thanked all walks of life for their support in the past.

Looking back at the team history of Dalian People, it can be traced back to July 2009, when Dalian People Albin FC was officially established. Despite starting out in the lower leagues, Albion developed very quickly with the deep roots of Dalian soccer, winning the China B League in the 2010 season and then entering the China A League. Just a year later, Albion finished first in China's first division and entered the Chinese Super League as expected. However, the Chinese Super League stage was highly competitive, and Albion's money couldn't keep up, the team's signings were poor, and the strength of the team was not up to par. After only three seasons, Dalian Albin would enter the Chinese First Division.

After one season of sticking with Albion, the club welcomed a new sponsor. In December 2015, Dalian Yifang FC took over, and the club's investment efforts followed suit. Two seasons later, Dalian once again surpassed the Chinese First Division title by winning it again. In 2019, the club changed the club name to Dalian People ahead of the neutral name regulations.

Despite being relegated in the 2021 season, miraculous additions were made to return, however, it was still a matter of funding, with Dalian's squad at one point being without a foreigner, and although the additions eased the funding for one season, they were still relegated in the 2023 season. Now completely gone, Dalian soccer needs a brand new team to revitalize.
