Beijing Guoan, a Chinese Super League (CSL) team, has suffered a serious blow, being disregarded by one of the CSL's poorer performing foreigners, who couldn't even get a seat on the bench to show their disdain for Guoan!
Beijing Guoan, Shanghai Shenhua and Shandong Taishan are long-established clubs in China's top soccer league. Beijing Guoan was founded in 1992 and has a history of 31 years so far. In the past, Beijing Guoan has always had the strength to compete for the title in the league, only winning the title once in 2009.
Beijing Guoan has not stopped on their quest to win the title, as they keep changing their manager and bringing in foreign aid. In the era of gold-dollar soccer, the foreigners playing for Beijing Guoan are top players with the level of playing in the top five leagues, including Brazilian international Augusto. However, other teams are also not showing any weakness, especially Guangzhou Evergrande. Due to Evergrande's power, Beijing Guoan has never been able to tie up with the championship.
The Golden Dollar Soccer Tournament has come to an end and Guangzhou Evergrande has been relegated to the Central League. Beijing Guoan has regained its hope of winning the championship, but the team is no longer as strong as it was in the past, and has brought in a famous coach and signed some well-known foreigners. Over the years, however, Beijing Guoan has changed managers and foreigners, but the team's performance has not improved, even finishing sixth in the 2023 season.
Daburo is a Croatian foreigner signed on April 15, 2022 by Beijing Guoan. In the first phase of the league, Daburo and another foreigner, Adebenelo, together scored only one goal. Despite Adebenro's lack of goals, his impact and performance in front of goal won the fans' recognition. The one goal scored by Dabrow made him unfortunate to be labeled by the fans as a "water boy".
Because of Dabbro's poor performance, Xie Feng had to give up using him and placed him on the bench. For Beijing Guoan, they may not have expected the Croatian soccer genius to become unremarkable after joining them. Daburo was loaned out to the Latvian league last season as he was unable to help the team at Guoan.
In Latvia, Dabrow's performance remains unsatisfactory, and he could only score 2 goals throughout the season, and none of them were crucial. Despite his poor performance, Beijing Guoan still hoped to recall him at the end of the loan period and give him another chance. However, surprisingly, Dabrow was reluctant to return to Beijing Guoan, after asking his agent to try and find a European team, preferably a Croatian one too.
It's definitely a blow for Beijing Guoan. An underperforming player who was loaned elsewhere and did just as poorly is thumbing his nose at Beijing Guoan and is unwilling to return to the team. I really don't know where Daburo got the courage from, a player who couldn't be a starter in either the Chinese Super League or the Latvian league. In the eyes of fans, Daburo is considered one of the worst foreigners in the Chinese Super League, but who is he to look down on Guoan?
