South Korean K-League club Jeju United officially announced that former South Korean U23 coach Kim Hak-bum, who was the head coach of Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League, has been hired as the team's head coach.

In November 2010, Henan Jianye of the Chinese Super League (CSL) announced the dismissal of former head coach Tang Yaodong and the appointment of Kim Hak-bum as their new head coach. The two sides signed a three-year contract, but with three draws and five losses in eight rounds of league matches, Kim Hak-bum was dismissed "prematurely".In 2018, Kim Hak-bum led South Korea's U23 team to the men's gold medal at the Asian Games as the team's head coach. At that time, he recruited three overage players Son Heung-miao, Hwang Yi-suk and Cho Hyun-woo.

Kim Hak-bum is back as the club's coach after six years. Due to his excellent team management skills and tactical mastery, he was nicknamed "Hak Beom Sam" (Kim Hak Beom + Ferguson). In the announcement, Jeju United official said: "Coach Kim is a coach who will bring strong motivation to the players.

Kim Hak-bum said in an interview, "So far, I think Jeju United is still a good team. However, not only do we need to be a good team, but we also need to put in a lot of hard work to become a team that can instill fear and power in our opponents. I will leave no stone unturned to instill confidence in my players to make Jeju United good in the future." And added: "I'm already looking forward to next season."
