On Nov. 16, the South Korean men's soccer team romped to a 5-0 win over Singapore in the first round of the 36-team World Qualifying Tournament. After the match, Minjae Kim spoke about the Chinese team in an interview in the mixed zone.
Asked if there are any players from Beijing Guoan in the Chinese team, Kim confessed, "I am more familiar with those teammates I played with and can introduce you to them. However, it is true that I know relatively little about other players."
Minjae Kim joined Beijing Guoan at the beginning of 2019, but left the side on a transfer in the summer of 2021. Currently, Beijing Guoan has four players on the Chinese national soccer team roster - Zhang Yuning, Li Lei, Li Ke and Gao Tianyi. It is worth noting that the first three players have all been teammates with Minjae Kim.
China will host South Korea in their next match, which will take place in Shenzhen.
