Coventry striker Thomas Asante was interviewed after the 1-2 home loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the EFL Cup, giving a comprehensive and insightful reflection on his team's performance, as well as expressing his strong confidence in the future.

Commenting on the result, Asante said, "The players put in a great effort, we set a standard of intensity in the game and executed it very well for the most part. The fact that we were able to stay positive against a strong Tottenham side and fight them off for 85 minutes is something to be proud of in itself. However, as is often the case in soccer, results sometimes don't fully reflect the performance on the pitch, which is a real shame."

Speaking about his goal, Asante couldn't hide his joy: "It's always exciting to be able to score in a game, even though this one came in a bit of a bittersweet way. It's not my regular position, but I tried out a new role and managed to capitalize on the opportunity. I'd like to give special thanks to Bassett for his fantastic pass, he did a great job and showed the potential and confidence of the youngsters. The goal meant a lot to me and reinforced my determination to contribute more to the team."

Looking back at the first half, Asante believes that his team did a pretty good job in both defense and offense: "We focused on solid defense in the first half and looked for the gaps left by our opponents for counterattacks. We managed to create a few chances and although some of our shots were not converted into goals, the overall performance was satisfactory. We continued this momentum in the second half and even had a chance to increase our lead when we were a goal up. However, chances in soccer are fleeting and we need to do better in this area."

Commenting on the chances he created in the game, Asante said, "We are conscious of our strengths and are confident in every game. Today's game was no different and we believe we have the ability to compete with any opponent. Although we didn't score more goals, we are satisfied with the team's performance and are confident of better things to come in future matches."

Looking ahead to their next match against Swansea, Asante showed strong fighting spirit and confidence: "Swansea is also a strong opponent, but we will not let our guard down. Instead, we will use tonight's game as a benchmark to continue to improve our performance. We need to start winning to consolidate our confidence and we are eager to do that. There is no room for acceptance of this result and we will take on the challenge of the next game by talking to each other and preparing."
