The night before, Guoan officially announced that another foreign player, North Macedonian international Ademi, had officially left the team, with the 32-year-old midfielder returning to his old stomping grounds of Dinamo Zagreb.

Yesterday morning, Beijing Guoan officially announced that since August 26th training, De Souza reported that the pain of the lateral meniscus injury of the right knee has worsened. After a consultation with the sports medicine expert group at Jishuitan Hospital, an MRI suggested that the injury was a tear of the lateral meniscus of the right knee, subchondral edema of the tibial plateau of the right knee, cartilage damage of the right patella, and a moderate effusion of the right knee. After consultation between the player and the club, Guoan agreed to De Souza to return to Brazil for further diagnosis and treatment.
De Souza returned to Brazil for treatment and will miss nearly a month and a half of games while he recovers. According to the timetable, if all goes well, he is likely to return to regular training in mid to late October, hopefully in time for the last round or two of the league. De Souza announced on his personal social media platform that he will return to Brazil on September 11 for a small joint endoscopy and will soon return to Guoan to continue to help the team.
