The 2023 Chinese Super League season got underway with the 20th round of matches, and Shanghai Seaport consolidated their lead with a 2:1 comeback against Tianjin Jinmen Tigers at home.

As the match progressed to the 13th minute, Barton took a long shot from outside the box, but it was parried away by Harbour goalkeeper Yan Junling. However, Tsimshatsui Tigers' foreign aid player Beric followed up with a shot to break the deadlock and score the opening goal for his team. Just three minutes later, Seaport's Lu Wenjun received a pass from Wu Lei and scored with a header to equalize the score.

Shortly after the start of the second half, in the 75th minute, Harbour decided to bring on two substitute foreigners. Their addition injected new energy into the team. One of them, Caron received a precise pass from Joao and scored the goal. The goal put the home team back on top 2:1 and eventually won the match.

Harbour continue to lead the Chinese Super League standings with 49 points after this game, 14 more than second-placed Shanghai Shenhua and having played one game less than them.
