The format of the Dutch League is as follows:
Participating Teams:
The Dutch Eredivisie consists of 18 teams. These include traditional giants such as Ajax, Eindhoven and Feyenoord, as well as a number of other clubs with some strength in Dutch soccer.

Third place in the league goes to the third round of the UEFA Cup qualification.
Fourth place in the league goes to the third round of qualifying for the European Club Cup.
The winner of the Dutch Cup participates directly in the UEFA Cup proper for the following season, and if the winner of the Dutch Cup has already secured the top two places in the Dutch Eredivisie, the place is conceded to the highest-placed league team that has not qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
