La Liga recently ushered in a key matchup, with the Spaniards losing 1-4 to the powerful Real Madrid at home. After the match, Spaniard's striker Carreras was interviewed by the media, sharing his intuitive feelings about the match.
Carreras began by acknowledging his team's fatigue late in the game, saying, "We lasted until about the 70th minute, but when you give one of the best teams in the world a chance, it's not a surprise to see a result like that. Real Madrid do live up to their name and their strength is there for all to see. We tried to play a good game and try to keep our shape, but at some key points we made mistakes which directly led to the final defeat."
Despite the loss, Carreras recognized his team's performance in the first 75 minutes, "We came so close, and the loss was truly chastening. However, we should also see that in the first 70 to 75 minutes of the game, our performance was excellent, and we played a very complete game during that time, showing the strength and potential of the team."
Speaking about the oval goal he created in the game, Carreras revealed a tacit understanding with teammate Joan Garcia: "Joan and I had communicated before, when he was in control of the ball, I would run ahead and he would accurately pass the ball to me. He was very precise with that pass, but unfortunately it ended up being an oops."
In addition, Carreras expressed his confusion about the controversial penalty that occurred during the match, "From the bench's point of view, we didn't think it was a penalty because N'Derrick's foot appeared to be outside the penalty area. I'm not sure if it was the referee or the VAR technology that ultimately made the decision to award the penalty, but I don't want to get too caught up in this controversy." His comments also reflected the players' mixed emotions about the match's decision and their desire for fair play.
