Shanghai Seaport thrashed Shanghai Shenhua 5-0 in the 19th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) away game on July 30th and now leads the CSL table by 11 points. According to an article in Soccer Daily, Seaport has a very solid lead over the other teams and has almost secured the title.
After stopping the FA Cup three days ago, the Harbour side have made their immediate task clear. The executives have asked all players to focus on the upcoming league matches and try to gain as many points as possible before the start of the AFC Champions League season. Back in the league, Harbour's first opponent is their arch-rival Shanghai Shenhua.
Prior to the Derby, Seaport announced that it had reached an agreement with Lucas João to join the team. According to Harbour's team sources, the player is the type of player that head coach Javier is happy with. Not only does he have an absolute advantage in height, which can help Harbour solve the problem of controlling overhead kicks from the center forward position, but more importantly, he is also able to play in several attacking positions and has a pretty good sense of tackling.
Harbor showed a clear advantage against Shenhua. The 8-point gap in the table not only reflects their superb performance in terms of strength, but also their consistency in the season. In the end, Seaport won by a massive 5-0 score, thanks to Oscar and Wu Lei's second goal each as well as Lu Wenjun's goal.
Oscar said in a previous interview, "My goal this year is to win the title with Harbour. From what I can see, the team has done well in recent seasons and the momentum is good this season. I've won three titles during my time at Harbour and I want to win at least one more this year. I still have about a year and a half left on my contract with Harbour and the plan at the moment is to finish my contract here, I'm very happy right now."
