After suffering a 1-5 defeat at home to Barcelona, Villarreal manager Marcelino, in an interview, expressed his recognition of the team's performance, but also frankly pointed out the existing problems and the direction of improvement. He believes that despite the difference in score, the process of the game was far more complicated and exciting than the final result.

Marcelino began by emphasizing that the game was undoubtedly one of the most exciting matchups of the La Liga season for the spectators, with plenty of chances for both sides, but Barcelona had the last laugh with a higher percentage of hits. He expressed his satisfaction with his team's effort and team spirit during the game, but was also outspoken about the mistakes on the defensive end that led to the loss. "We had a lot of chances and even before Barry's goal was blown away we were even with Barcelona. But unfortunately, we didn't capitalize on those chances, and instead our opponents caught us in a defensive hole."

Regarding his team's performance after Barry's goal was blown away, Marcelino said that the penalty dealt a major blow to the team's morale, and that from that moment on, the team seemed to have lost the fight and confidence they had before. "That goal, if it had been confirmed, the score could have been 2-3, and that would have given us a huge morale boost. But the reality was harsh, Barcelona capitalized on our mistakes and completely crushed us."

Speaking about Barcelino, Marcelino spoke highly of Barcelona as a clear-thinking and risk-taking team. "They dare to press on without the ball and use counter-attacks to create threats; when they have the ball they create space for attack by attracting defenders. This tactical variation makes their games more watchable."

As for the referee's penalty calls, Marcelino appeared relatively calm and rational. He said that although he was unhappy with certain ambiguous penalty calls, he would not blame the referees for the loss. "Referees are referees and we have to accept their decisions. What we need to do is to look for reasons from ourselves and improve our performance in the game."

In addition, Marcelino singled out Yamal from Villarreal's squad, praising his talent and brilliance. "Yamal is a spectacular player and his presence makes our league even better. Although he may present us with some challenges as a coach, it is certainly a good thing for the league as a whole and for the spectators."

Looking ahead, Marcelino said the team will learn from this game and work to improve its performance on the defensive end and take advantage of every offensive opportunity. "We are proud of the team's performance, but we also have to clearly recognize our shortcomings. La Liga has just started and we still have a long way to go. Only by constantly striving to improve will we be able to achieve better results in future matches."
