After Brighton's 2-2 draw with ten-man Nottingham Forest at home in the fifth round of the English Premier League, Japanese international Kaoru Sanfelt was interviewed by the Japanese media and gave an in-depth reflection and summary of the match.
Talking about the result of the match, Kaoru Sanfelt firstly expressed his desire and regret for the victory: "This is really a match that we could have won. But unfortunately, just like the last round of EPL, we failed to show enough sharpness and determination in the final stage of the game, which became a key factor for us not being able to get all three points. This is a problem we must face up to and try to improve."
In terms of individual performance, Kaoru Sanfelt keeps a humble and self-reflective attitude: "The good or bad condition of an individual is not the only factor that decides whether to win or lose a match. More importantly, we need to improve our ability to take the last shot in the game. I hardly got a chance to shoot at goal in this game, and it was difficult for me to effectively enter the opponent's penalty area, which is something I personally need to focus on improving."
Kaoru Mitaka blamed the whole team for the consecutive goals conceded by his team: "We conceded several goals that should not have been conceded, and this is obviously the responsibility shared by the whole team. It's not that one player lacked responsibility, but we didn't run and defend with all our strength at certain times. We need to get better at that, both on an individual and overall level."
Meanwhile, Kaoru Mitaka also expressed his concern about future matches, "If this inability to win consistently continues, we will face even greater challenges and pressure when we face stronger opponents. Therefore, we must find the root of the problem and solve it as soon as possible to ensure that the team can achieve better results in the next stage of the competition."
