In the 5th round match of the EPL last night, Liverpool won 3-0 at home against Bournemouth, and newcomer Federico Chiesa made his EPL debut as a substitute in this match. After the match, he was interviewed by the club's officials, sharing his thoughts and feelings about the game.
Speaking about his debut experience at Anfield, Chiesa couldn't hide his excitement, "It was a great feeling to hear You'll Never Walk Alone on the bench for the first time! The game against Nottingham Forest was a loss but it was a really good day and I enjoyed every moment of the game." He recalled his brief appearance at Milan and expressed his desire to play at Anfield, "I remember playing seven minutes against Milan, it wasn't a long time but it was nice to make my debut in a game like that. Today, when I heard the coach's instructions to play me, I felt very happy and relieved because I've always dreamed of playing at Anfield."
Chiesa was highly complimentary of his team's performance, "This was an important win, we answered the doubts with a great performance today after losing at home to Nottingham Forest. We proved that Liverpool are a great team, a team eager to compete at the highest level." He singled out his team's two victories this week, "Whether it was the 3-1 defeat away to Milan or today's 3-0 home win over Bournemouth, we showed great strength and team spirit."
Speaking about teammate Luis Diaz's double, Chiesa said, "He played very well, but I think the whole team played very well today. Everyone played a key role, we needed to recover from the loss against Nottingham and today we were certainly successful." He also mentioned his first touch after coming on as a substitute: "It was a long range shot and I saw it bounce and tried it. It didn't turn out well, but my second shot hit the post, which shows the positive attitude I had when I came on."
For the coming matches, Chiesa says he is ready: "I am preparing more for the EFL Cup match against West Ham United in midweek. I'm training harder and faster so that I can play at any time. Of course, it depends on the coach's decision, but I will always be ready and waiting for the chance to play."
Finally, Chiesa expressed optimism about his team's progress this season: "The Premier League is really tough, but we still have to face the challenge of the Champions League. We showed good form against Milan and proved our strength again today. I believe we can continue to do well in the next games."
As Liverpool's newest recruit, Federico Chiesa has already shown his strength and potential in a short period of time. As the season progresses, it is reasonable to expect him to contribute more exciting moments for Liverpool in the coming matches.
