In the 5th round of EPL match on September 22, Brighton drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest at home. After the match, Brighton assistant coach Crofts was interviewed by the media, commenting on several key events in the match and the team's performance.
Regarding the red cards given to both skippers, Crofts expressed confusion: "In the final stages of the game we were working hard to win, but unfortunately a controversial foul took place near the bench. From my point of view, our players were going for the ball, but the referee and the opposing bench obviously had a different view. I didn't see the full details of the foul with my own eyes, so the referee's decision was a bit confusing to me. I will find out more about our head coach Hülzeler's opinion when I meet with him afterward and try to figure out exactly what happened in this incident."
Speaking about the overall performance of the game, Crofts said, "We are certainly frustrated with the result of the draw as we felt we were capable of winning the game. The team created a lot of chances in the game and scored two really good goals - a nice header and a top class free kick. In the second half we felt that we had taken over the field and tried to seal the win by scoring a third goal. However, on the defensive end, we really need to do better. Even though we played well defensively in general and kept the other team from having too many chances, we had to be 100 percent focused and on point defensively at key moments to prevent the other team from taking any chances."
In addition, Krofts spoke about working with head coach Hülzeler: "It's been a pleasure working with Hülzeler. He is a very experienced and capable coach who brings many new ideas and tactical concepts to the club. His ambition also inspires the whole team to move forward. I have already learned a lot about soccer tactics and team management from him in a very short period of time. I believe that under his leadership, Brighton will achieve better results."
