In an exciting match in the 5th round of the English Premier League, Nottingham Forest drew with a resilient score of 2-2 at the home of Brighton. After the match, Nottingham Forest's player Yates was interviewed by the media and gave a comprehensive review and reflection on the match.
On today's draw, Yates said, "We are very happy. Brighton is a very good team, from the front to the back, they have high-level players in every position. It's not easy for us to get a point against such an opponent. We created some threatening attacking chances and although Brighton dominated the game for most of the time, we didn't give up and were always looking for chances to break through. In the end, we accepted the result because it was a sign of our team effort."
When asked about the referee's red card call during the game, Yates appeared very calm: "There's not really much to say about the red card. It's the referee's job and he needs to make a judgment based on what happened in the game. We respect the referee's decision and leave it to the professionals. Of course, Nuno's sending off was not an ideal situation for us, but we can't be affected by it. We need to work harder in the upcoming games to make sure we perform well on the field. Training-wise, we won't change anything, we just need to get used to the new situation of not having Nuno on the sidelines calling the shots loudly."
Speaking about the first half of the game, Yates spoke highly of the performance, "We played very well in the first half. We had a clear plan to look for breakthroughs from the wings. Hudson-Odoi was outstanding and he won us the penalty that helped us take the lead. However, we also know that we have to be on our toes at all times against good teams. If we let our guard down after taking the lead, allowing our opponents to rebuild their rhythm and settle down, the scoreline could soon change. Fortunately, the half-time break came at the right time and we were able to regroup and adjust our tactics. We continued to work hard in the second half, showing the fight and resilience we have been showing all season."
Finally, Yates also talked about how he felt about missing the chance for a shutout: "In the final moments of the game, we did have a great chance to shut out our opponents. But that's the way the game of soccer is, sometimes chances come and you don't always capitalize on them. I was just focusing on what I was doing at the back and it would have been nice if my teammates could have capitalized on it at the other end. Although the ball may have been a bit offside, I think we were able to capitalize on that opportunity as well. Overall, we are pleased with the performance and look forward to continuing to play to our strengths in the upcoming games."
