With the Chinese Super League about to start, teams have stepped up their signings. According to the latest news, Beijing Guoan's negotiations with Cameroonian international and Gent center back Ngaardew have ended and the foreigner has confirmed that he will join Guoan. In order to join Guoan, Ngadeyo will voluntarily give up his contract with Gent, which will cost him millions of dollars.

According to Belgian media outlet Belgian Football, Ngaardew was eager to join Beijing Guoan despite having a contract with Gent, and the two sides decided on the details of the contract very early on. The previous obstacle to the transfer was that Gent didn't want to lose Ngaardew before the end of the season, so he didn't agree to the transfer. Seeing that time was running out, Ngaardew eventually made a decision to unilaterally terminate his contract with Gent.

According to the Belgian media, Ngaardew's contract with Gent has a termination clause that allows him to pay a percentage of his contractual fee and then unilaterally terminate his contract and leave the team. Considering that there are only three months left in Ngaardew's contract with Gent, the fee should theoretically be his last three months' salary. At Gent, Ngadejou earns around €900,000 per year. Based on three months' monthly salary, the fee would be around €200,000, which is equivalent to about 1.6 million yuan.

This is not a small amount of money for an African player who has been playing in the Bianca League, but Ngaardew would rather leave Gent on his own dime, as Beijing Guoan have made him a much more lucrative offer. As things stand, Guoan's offer to Ngaardew is bound to be significantly more than what he was earning at Gent, allowing Ngaardew to voluntarily give up his multi-million dollar salary and land in the Chinese Super League on a free. I hope that in China, the powerful 33-year-old defender will be able to make up for the loss of his canceled contract.
