Mile Škorić said goodbye to Osijek fans at the City Garden Stadium last weekend. His next stop will be the Lions of Cangzhou Superliga team. Before embarking on his new journey, he gave an exclusive interview to Voice of Slavonia and publicly confirmed that he will land in the Chinese Super League: "In China, unknowns and tests are waiting for me. I am full of fighting spirit to face this new challenge and I am ready to fight for my place in my new club. I am ready to cope with the difficulties and I will try my best to prove myself."

Q: Against Sibenik at home, you completed Osijek's last game...

A: Unfortunately, we didn't get 3 points, which was the most important thing in this game. I knew that it was my last game and I wanted to get 3 points for the team because it would work in the final European qualification. Unfortunately, we didn't accomplish that and it was very emotional to say goodbye at the end. I'm going to miss everything here, I've played here for a long time and I want to try something new in my life, I hope we'll see you again and not goodbye.

Q: Before Mijo Caktash took the penalty, he was suddenly frightened by the shouts of "Mile Školjic" from the stands in front of his Šibenik goalkeeper (the home fans wanted Školjic to take the penalty) but the penalty still didn't allow you to take the penalty.

A: Thanks to the fans, I also wanted to score a goal for Šibenik and give the team a victory. No one would have been happier than me if that had been the case. However, the team made it clear that the first player was Mijo Tsaktash. I was unfortunate. This time he didn't have a shot on goal. In fact, I took a lot of penalties in Osijek, but they were not good. I am not a so-called penalty taker.

Q: At Osijek, you experienced relegation and the team was almost bankrupt. Which game impressed you the most?

A: Of course, it was the last round of the 2013/14 season against the Croatian Volunteers. At that time, we were fighting for relegation and were scored a goal by our opponents. If this scoreline had continued, we would have been relegated to the second division. Then Josip Barisic appeared. He equalized the goal and kept us in the top flight. If we hadn't been relegated then, nobody knew what the club should have done, whether Hungarian investors would have come, or where the club would have gone.

Q: How do you want to play in China?

A: It wasn't an easy decision for me to make. I thought about it for a long time. Finally, I decided to leave, even though it was really difficult to make that decision. I will turn 32 this June and this may be my last chance to change and feel new things.
