Juventus manager Thiago Motta is mulling over a major tactical tweak as he plans to convert his team's wide player Kenan Yildiz into a center forward in a bid to create a new spark on the attacking end of the pitch, according to a new report from Turin Sporting Gazette. Behind this decision is Motta's dissatisfaction with Yildiz's performances on the wing, as well as his reference to the success of Bologna's center-forward Zylkiser last season.
According to Motta, Yildiz seemed to lack enough inspiration and creativity in his position on the wing, which limited his play to a certain extent as well as affecting the game performance of his teammate Kupmenas. In order to break this deadlock, Motta decided to take a leaf out of the book of how he used Zilkidze during his stint at Bologna last season and pushed Yildiz to the center forward position, hoping that he would find his feet in this new position and bring more goals and assists to the team.
So far this season, Yildiz has made six appearances for Juventus in all competitions, all of which were starts, showing a good competitive state. He has scored one goal and given out two assists, which is not particularly impressive, but is enough to prove that he has a certain threat in the attacking end. Mota believes that if the potential of Yildiz can be fully explored in the center forward position, he is expected to become an important weapon in the team's offensive end.
However, this tactical adjustment comes with its fair share of challenges. Firstly, Ildiz needs to adapt to the new position and role, which may take some time and games to get used to. Secondly, Juventus has other players competing for the center forward position, and Ildiz will need to earn the trust of the manager and his teammates with his performance. However, for a player who is eager to prove himself at a higher level, such a challenge is undoubtedly a valuable opportunity for growth.
