O'Neal's career

O'Neal is a former professional basketball player and rapper in the National Basketball Association and currently serves as a commentator on the television program NBA Insider and as one of the shareholders of the Sacramento Kings.

O'Neal was selected by the Orlando Magic with the first pick in the 1992 NBA Draft. He quickly became one of the best centers in the league, winning NBA Rookie of the Year in his rookie season and leading the Magic to the 1995 Finals. After four years with the Magic, O'Neal signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers. He won three consecutive championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Later in his career, O'Neal was traded to the Miami Heat in 2004 due to a conflicted relationship with Kobe Bryant, and won his fourth career championship in 2006. In the middle of the 2007-08 season, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. After one season with the Suns, O'Neal was traded again to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2009-10 season. 2011 saw O'Neal move to the Boston Celtics, where he announced his retirement at the end of the season.

O'Neal won four NBA championships in his career, and was the NBA Most Valuable Player of the Year in 2000, NBA Finals MVP three times, NBA All-Star Game selection fifteen times and NBA All-Star Game MVP three times, NBA First Team of the Year eight times, NBA Second Team of the Year four times, NBA Third Team of the Year twice, and NBA Best Defensive Team Second Team three times, and NBA Scoring Champion NBA Best Defensive Team Second Team, and twice named NBA Scoring Champion.On April 4, 2016, the NBA officially announced that O'Neal was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame along with Allen Iverson and Yao Ming.In 2017, O'Neal was inducted into the FIBA Basketball Hall of Fame.
