Recently, former Beijing Guoan midfielder and naturalized Chinese player Hou Yongyong was interviewed by Norwegian media TV2. Hou Yong Yong revealed an interesting inside story while reminiscing about his time in the Chinese Super League. According to his observation, Chinese players like to wear and discuss designer watches the most, which is something he has never seen before and even ended up being influenced by Chinese players.
"When I joined Beijing Guoan, I realized that the Chinese players there really like to wear watches." Hou Yongyong said: "I didn't know anything about watches before, but they really like to talk about it. The funny thing is that when everyone around you is talking about watches, you can't help but be interested in it."
Hou Yongyong revealed that he finally bought a famous watch under the influence of Chinese players. The brand is Royal Oak, worth more than 250,000 yuan. When he was playing in Norway, he didn't even dare to think of such an expensive watch, but naturalization into Chinese nationality allowed him to achieve financial freedom. However, Hou Yongyong also admitted that his interest in watches is only "tasting". He only bought one watch and then stopped, far from being as fond of watches as his Chinese teammates.
As Hou Yongyong said, in fact, for those who are keen to wear a watch, this is a common hobby in the Chinese men's soccer circle, especially some of the international football stars with high annual income. For example, the "big brother" of Chinese football Zheng Zhi, because in 2019, he wore a watch worth about 4 million yuan and sparked a hot debate. However, like Zheng Zhi, Chinese soccer watch players are not a few, such as Zhou Lin and Wei Shihao, they are wearing watches worth millions of dollars. In comparison, Hou Yongyong's watch is simply "not enough to see".
Like Beijing Guoan, which Hou Yongyong played for back in the day, there were a lot of international players, and it was in the era of gold dollar soccer. These players were rich, so it's no surprise that a circle of watch lovers was formed.
