On February 21, the CFA officially announced that the first transfer window of the 2023 season for Chinese Super League and Chinese A League clubs will open on February 22, the transfer window for Chinese B League clubs will close on April 7, and the transfer window for Chinese B League clubs will close from February 22 to April 14. Before making player transfers, the transfer windows of the Chinese Super League, Chinese League A and Chinese League B clubs must have the corresponding league entry qualifications for the 2023 season.

Following the increase of the domestic player transfer quota in the Chinese Super League from five to eight for the 2021 season, there will be no domestic player transfer quota restriction for two consecutive seasons for the Chinese Super League, Chinese League One and Chinese League Two clubs. Naturalized players will be transferred and registered based on their status as domestic players.

No more than six foreign players may be registered by a Chinese Super League club, no more than four foreign players may be registered by a Chinese First Division club, and a Chinese Second Division club is not eligible to introduce foreign players for the time being. In the first and second transfer windows, the number of foreign players that each Chinese Super League club can register shall not exceed seven, and each Chinese First Division club shall not exceed four.

With the return of the home-and-away system in the new third-tier professional league season, the transfer window, which has experienced a three-season transfer slump, is expected to get back on track. Considering that most clubs are operating at a low cost, there is likely to be a significant turnover of transfers.
