On his personal social media, Rico posted a picture of him recovering at Arsenal and wrote: "The last 18 months have been very difficult and I've faced unprecedented challenges with the support of Arsenal. I've had three surgeries in the last 18 months and am grateful for everything the club has done to help me get back to fitness and for me to continue my career.
I am very grateful to everyone at Arsenal who opened the training ground for me and worked with me every day, especially Arteta, Mertesacker, Wilshere and the members of the club's medical team.
I would also like to give a special thanks to Singh, I have known you for over a decade and you have looked after me like a brother for the last 18 months. You have always pushed me when I was at my worst, thank you is not enough to express my feelings.
When I return to China, I will continue to work hard and prepare for the new Chinese Super League season."
