On the afternoon of December 27, the penultimate round of the Chinese Super League, the 33rd round, the relegation suspense was revealed. In the end, Wuhan Changjiang, Guangzhou and Hebei were relegated to the Central League, with Guangzhou City escaping to the shore a round earlier. It is worth mentioning that Li Tie used to be the head coach of Hebei and Wuhan Changjiang. During his time at Guangzhou, Li Tie served as an assistant coach.
According to the 2022 CFA Super League, the last three clubs in the Chinese Super League rankings this season are relegated. After 33 rounds of the Chinese Super League, Guangzhou City has 23 points, Wuhan Changjiang has 19 points, Guangzhou has 18 points and Hebei -3 points.
With the last round of the league left, Wuhan Changjiang, Guangzhou and Hebei could not get rid of the last three teams in the rankings, so they were relegated to the Central League in the early round, while Guangzhou City landed in the last round to save themselves.
So far, the list of 18 teams in the Chinese Super League has been announced for the 2023 season, which are:Shandong Taishan, Wuhan Sanzhen, Zhejiang, Shanghai Port, Chengdu Rongcheng, Beijing Guoan, Henan Songshan Longmen, Tianjin Jinmen Tiger, Meizhou Hakka, Dalian People, Shanghai Shenhua, Changchun Yatai, Cangzhou Lions, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Kunshan, Qingdao Hainiu, Nantong Zhiyun.
Of course, the 18 clubs mentioned above must pass the CFA's admission to qualify for the 2023 Chinese Super League season. Theoretically, relegated Wuhan Changjiang, Guangzhou and Hebei also have a chance to make up for the CSL. However, from a practical point of view, Wuhan Changjiang, Guangzhou and Hebei all have big survival problems. Even if some teams are unable to enter through the Chinese Super League, there are few possibilities for the three teams to make up for their participation in the Chinese Super League.
