Juventus manager Thiago Motta is mulling over a tactical change, according to a new report from Turin Sporting News, as he plans to move the team's Kenan Yildiz from the wing to the center forward position in search of more possibilities on the attacking end. Behind this decision is Motta's assessment of Yildiz's current performance on the wing as well as his consideration of the team's overall attacking efficiency.
It is reported that Motta believes that Yildiz's performances on the wing have been slightly lackluster of late, lacking sufficient inspiration and creativity, which has not only limited Yildiz's individual play, but also indirectly affected the on-field performances of his teammate Koupounas, who has been paired with him. In order to break this deadlock, Motta has decided to take a leaf out of Bologna's successful use of Zilkidze last season and place Yildiz in the center of the pitch as well, in the hope that he can find his rhythm in this new role and contribute more goals and assists to the team.
Yildiz has had a solid season for Juventus, making six appearances in all competitions so far, all of them starts, contributing one goal and two assists. Although his stats are not outstanding, Yildiz's versatility and running ability on the field still shows Mota the potential of his transition to center forward.
For Juventus, this tactical adjustment is undoubtedly a bold attempt. Whether or not Yildiz can quickly adapt to the center position and play to his advantage will directly affect the efficiency and performance of Juventus in the offensive end. At the same time, this will also test Mota's coaching ability and the control of the team's tactical system.
