In the post-match press conference after Liverpool's 5-1 home win over West Ham United in the third round of the EFL Cup, Reds boss Slaughter gave a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of his team's performance, the players' form, and the future fixture schedule.

Firstly, Slotter emphasized the depth of Liverpool's squad and the team spirit of the players. "You've probably laughed because you've been asking questions about the new players." He opened with humor, "But I keep telling you guys that we already have a lot of quality players. Tonight's game proved that again. What pleases me the most is that the new additions didn't come on the field for their individual performances, they all worked hard for the team. That team spirit was the key to our victory."

Speaking about Wakata's and Gakpo's two-goal performances respectively, Slaughter spoke highly of them. "Diogo (Wakata) deserved his goal, he has been very important for us in every game." Slaughter said, "And I was also impressed with Cody's (Gacobo) goal, he shoots with incredible speed in and around the box. I wasn't surprised that he was able to score, but I was more pleased with his contributions on the defensive end." Slaughter also singled out Gakpo for a key clearance in his own box just before the end of the game as one of his key contributions to the team.

On the draw for the next round away to Brighton, Slaughter said it was a tough test. "Almost all the teams that haven't been eliminated yet are strong teams." He said, "Brighton is a strong team and we will need to go all out on the road to get a win. Of course, I'd like to play at home because we've got a packed schedule already, but wherever we play, we'll give it our all."

Speaking about Chiesa's performance, Slaughter said he was pleased with his progress. "I was happy to see him able to play 60 minutes." Sloter said, "He hadn't played for a long time and needed game time to get back into form. He gave an assist and although it was a shot on goal it created a goal scoring opportunity for Diogo. I don't think he's at his best at the moment, but it's a process of him adapting to the club and his teammates. I'm sure he'll get better with time."

Finally, Slaughter talked about how to make sure key players like Wakita stay healthy. "Rotation is a big way we manage our players' playing time." He said, "We will arrange the playing time of our players according to their form and the demands of the game. Also, we will do thorough preparation in pre-season training and daily training to minimize the risk of player injuries. Of course, the players also need to maintain a professional lifestyle and good physical condition to cope with the intensive fixtures."
