Enrique's coaching career

Enrique is a retired Spanish soccer player who played in a variety of positions on the field, having played in all positions except goalkeeper during his career. He has coached the Spanish national soccer team and La Liga team Barcelona.

In 2008, he began his tenure as manager of FC Barcelona's second team and led Barcelona B to two consecutive promotions and a third place finish in La Liga B. In 2011, Enrique confirmed that he would not be renewing his contract with Barcelona B and in the summer he took over as head coach of Serie A club Roma, for one season only.

He has been the manager of La Liga club Celta since 2013, leaving after one season in the role.

After returning to Barcelona as manager in May 2014 and winning the "Five Champions League" in 2015, he announced on March 1, 2017, in a press conference following his team's 6-1 victory over Athletic de Gijón, that he would not be renewing his contract and would not be taking over as Barcelona's manager for the next season.

In July 2018, Luis Enrique became the head coach of the Spanish men's national soccer team. he left the post in June 2019 due to a family matter; however, on November 19, he resumed his position as the head coach of the Spanish men's soccer team, leading the Spanish squad to the UEFA European Cup of Nations, which ended up in the quarterfinals.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Spain was eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16 against Morocco. On December 8 of the same year, Spain sacked Enrique as manager.

On July 5, 2023, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain announced Enrique as the team's new manager on a two-year contract.
