Karabakh went down 0-3 to ten-man Tottenham Hotspur in a key UEFA Cup clash, and after the match, team manager Kurbanov attended a press conference to reflect deeply on the game.
In response to the loss, Kurbanov began by acknowledging the gap between his team's experience and skill and that of their opponents. "Maybe we shouldn't have lost the game today with a score of 0-3 because we did create quite a few goal scoring chances." He confessed, "However, experience and skill decided the winner at the crucial moment. I don't have a lot of criticism for my players as they did their best, but they could have performed better, especially after the opponent's numbers were reduced, and we had a chance to turn things around."
Kurbanov also singled out the competitiveness of English soccer and the strength of the Tottenham Hotspur team. "As you know, the strongest league in the world is held in England, and Tottenham Hotspur has always been one of the leaders in it." He analyzed, "It's inevitable that our players will be a little bit nervous against such an opponent, and this affects their performance to some extent. But that's soccer and we need to learn to thrive under such pressure."
Additionally, Kurbanov spoke about how the traffic jams he encountered before the match affected the game. "It took us two and a half hours to reach the stadium, which really had a negative impact on the players' concentration." He said reluctantly, "However, I don't want to use this as an excuse for our loss. It was uncalled for in such a big match to be in such a situation. Upon arriving at the stadium, we were told that there were only 40 minutes left before the start of the match, which prevented us from making adequate pre-match preparations as usual. The traffic jam certainly had a big impact on the outcome of the game."
In closing, Kurbanov said the team will learn from this and be better prepared for future matches. "We need to learn from this game, find our shortcomings and improve on them in the upcoming games." He said firmly, "I believe our players are capable of doing better and we will work together to deliver a better performance for our fans."
