After Chelsea's 5-0 win over Barrow in the third round of the EFL Cup, Pedro Neto, who was unable to make his debut in the game, conveyed the positive atmosphere within the team as well as his personal struggles and mentality through an official club interview.
Pedro Neto began by emphasizing the importance of team spirit, saying, "It's all about unity. To achieve success in the highly competitive Premier League, and even to reach the level of the top teams, each one of us must work together and fight relentlessly for the same goal. Seeing my teammates who didn't play after the game waiting in the players' tunnel and encouraging the players on the field gave me a deep sense of team cohesion."
Pedro Neto is aware of the competitive atmosphere within the team: "We have a talented group of players, which means that no one can rest on their laurels. As the manager says, opportunities always come to those who are prepared and not everyone can play in every game, so we have to keep working hard to be at our best, whether it's in training every week or in every game. I believe that this positive mindset will lead us to greater heights."
Talking about his personal performance and form, Pedro Neto said, "I am currently adapting to the team's rhythm and tactical system. As I didn't get too many chances to play during the Europa League, I need more time and pre-season games to get back into shape. But I am happy with my progress and will continue to work hard to bring joy and victory to the club." He also revealed his plans to improve his fitness, self-confidence, soccer level and adaptability: "I will keep on training and keep improving my fitness and athleticism. I believe I will gradually get back to my best level as the game progresses."
When asked about his characteristics, Pedro Neto said confidently, "Everyone is unique in their own way, and while I enjoy one-on-one confrontations, I have excellent speed and creativity. I enjoy creating chances for my teammates and that's what I try to do on the field. I wouldn't change the way I play, but rather enjoy the game more. Although I'm not at my best at the moment, I'll keep working hard and I know I can do better."
