In his latest Sportscasting interview, renowned pundit Mark Lawrenson gives an insight into Manchester United's backline, with particular insight into Luke Shaw's injury situation and the signing of De Ligt.

Regarding Luke Shaw, Laurenson expressed his concern and understanding in equal measure. He pointed out that Luke Shaw's frequent injuries have forced Manchester United to consider the issue of finding a replacement. Although the England international showed his tough professionalism by continuing to play in the Europa League despite his injuries, Laurenson believes it is unwise for a team aiming to compete for the title to over-rely on such an injury-prone player. "I sympathize with Luke Shaw, he doesn't want to get injured, but that's part of the game." Laurenson said as much and predicted that United may reassess their backline setup early next year to deal with possible changes.

As for United's key attraction this summer, Dellihert, Laurenson spoke highly of the player. He emphasized that Ten Hagar has worked closely with de Ligt during his time at Ajax, so he has a good understanding of the young center back's ability. Dellihert has made a good start to his time at United, which has certainly reinvigorated the team's backline. "When you buy a new player and he starts well, the whole atmosphere of the team is different." Laurenson said.

In addition, Lawrenson also pointed out that although United has made a number of reinforcements in the past few years, the addition of De Ligt has undoubtedly brought more stability to the team. He believes that the understanding between Dellihert and Ten Hagar will help him achieve more success at United. "Dellihert understands Ten Hagar's tactical system and he knows how the coach will take care of him and protect him." Laurenson said, "But more importantly, Dellihert is also very good himself, he doesn't look like he needs too much care, and he is fully capable of being an important part of United's backline."
