Manchester City's young defender Rico Lewis expressed his gratitude to manager Pep Guardiola in a recent interview and shared his experience of growing up in the first team of Manchester City and his expectations for the future. The 19-year-old England defender has been in excellent form in the new season, not only earning Guardiola's trust but also showing his strength in several matches.

Lewis began by thanking Guardiola for the invaluable opportunity he has been given: "It's an indescribable feeling to be trusted by Guardiola, who is one of the greatest coaches in history. He trusted me and brought me into the first team, which gave me the opportunity to show my talent in the Premier League. I am very grateful to him because without this opportunity I would probably still be waiting to be discovered."

Speaking about his learning experience under Guardiola, Lewis said, "Guardiola pays great attention to detail and his desire to win has deeply infected me. He is always looking for places where we can improve, even the tiniest details. This pursuit of perfection has benefited me greatly and made me love the sport of soccer even more."

Since the new season, Lewis has played brightly in many games of Manchester City, he not only delivered two assists, but also showed his all-round ability in many positions. In this regard, Lewis confessed: "I'm happy to play more games than expected in the new season. I'm always trying to improve myself, whether it's in terms of fitness, technique or tactical understanding. I'm confident that as long as I keep that attitude, I'll have a better career at City."

Speaking about his favorite position, Lewis said he is better at playing in small areas of the midfield, "I feel most effective in small areas of the midfield because I can control the tempo of the game better, draw in the opposing players, and then create more attacking opportunities for the forwards. I like to control the game, have possession and be in complete control of the opposition."

In addition, Lewis also talked about the injury of teammate Rodney: "The news of Rodney's injury makes us all very sad, he is a very important player. We hope he can recover as soon as possible and come back to the team. At the same time, we also believe that the other players in the team have the ability to fill the void left by him and continue to maintain good competitive status."

Looking to the future, Lewis is full of confidence and expectation: "I will continue to work hard to improve myself and win more honors for Manchester City. I believe I will become stronger under the guidance of Guardiola. I also look forward to creating more glorious moments with my teammates."
